He used their fear to control them and force them to effectively do as he said.

“Despite their young age, the victims have been incredibly brave in coming forward and providing information to the police and I would praise them for this.

She urged anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image to call the police and added that anyone who contacts the police will be treated with the utmost sensitivity.

fridgebar-brixtonThe council has revoked the Fridge Bar’s licence after a number of violent incidents.

In the last year there were 91 assaults within 500 metres of the club on Brixton Hill. Lambeth council had been called on to withdraw the licence by Scotland Yard, who accused Fridge Bar of being linked with serious crime and disorder.

In June, CCTV captured 20 men fighting outside. One man was stabbed three times and had both lungs punctured and, in January, a man threatened door staff with a machete after being thrown out for urinating in the club.

The council said: “The venue has 21 days to appeal and may continue trading during that period or until the conclusion of any appeal raised.”

During this time, the club will breathalyse anyone coming in after midnight and close at 2am.

police image racist graffiti

Image of the person wanted in connection with the crime

A CCTV image has been released by police investigating racist graffiti sprayed on the wall of a bar in Herne Hill.

On Monday May 25 staff at Dee Dee’s jazz bar discovered the N-word sprayed across the front wall.

Police say it was carried out at around 1 am and have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the crime.

Following the incident, a local teacher was accused on social media of spraying the graffiti.

However, police have established that Thomas Turnham was not in London at the time of the incident and have ruled him out as a suspect.

Turnham later told the Evening Standard that his life had been “ripped apart” by the false accusations.

Police have also said that they believe that the suspect is not, as previously thought, one of a group of tourists who were staying at a flat nearby.

Last week, the bar posted a message on its website thanking the local community for their support.

The Dee Dee’s team said: “We have received so much support from so many that we really and truly feel inspired and hopeful in a situation which frankly left us bewildered, violated and down-heartened.

“On the very day it happened, we had one very kind neighbour lend us some sheets to cover the obscene language, and since then a stream of well wishers checking that we were OK. We have been inundated with encouraging messages to focus on the good that we are doing, rather than the negativity of the incident.”

Anyone with information about the incident, or who can identify the man shown in the CCTV image, should call the Southwark Community Safety Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

During his police interview Amon refused to provide any information about how he had got the gun and on May 23 he was charged with possession of a firearm.

Yesterday, Tuesday June 9, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years at Inner London Crown Court.

Detective Sergeant Philip Holt, from Trident Gang Command, said: “Amon was in possession of a lethal weapon and we are pleased police were able to intercept before he had the opportunity to use or pass it on to someone else to cause serious harm.

“Taking lethal firearms off the streets of London is a top priority for us and we will actively pursue people who engage in the carrying and distribution of weapons.”

Shah Musib has been given an extra three years on his sentence for assaulting a fellow inmate

Shah Musib has been given an extra three years on his sentence for assaulting a fellow inmate

A prisoner has had three years added to his sentence after he seriously assaulted a fellow inmate at HMP Brixton.

On October 4 2014 at around 10:15 am Musib Shah, 24, attacked an inmate with a home-made blade.

Shah was detained by prison staff, who recovered the weapon and called the police.

The victim, aged 26, suffered a cut to the face which required hospital treatment but did not wish to assist with the investigation.

However, officers were able to gather enough evidence to proceed with a prosecution and on December 15 2014 Shah was charged with GBH with intent.

Shah was then sentenced to three years imprisonment at Inner London Crown Court on Friday July 17 for grievous bodily harm (GBH).

DC Nathan Burrows, who led the investigation, said “This was a violent incident in which the victim suffered a serious injury.

“This sentence sends a very clear message to those who carry knives and are intent on using them.

“We will not tolerate violence and will do everything to secure a prosecution and to ensure that justice is done.”
